The site opens in your browser's language

Any page of the site now opens in the edition your browser prefers: a browser that does not prefer Chinese is sent to the English edition, and a Chinese browser opening an English link is sent to the Chinese one. Once you pick a language with the switch, that choice is kept for a year and nothing is redirected. Search engines and link previews in chat apps are not affected.

Daily, weekly and monthly reports no longer show items that were withdrawn or later found ineligible; until now these stayed in the report as struck-through headlines.

Body translation is switched off: the Chinese edition shows the original text of an article, and the "translation incomplete" notice is gone.

  2. 21:00Update

CBP's CSMS messages are now a source

New source: CBP · CSMS. Every message from CBP's Cargo Systems Messaging Service, including filing requirements and ACE changes, implementation guidance for tariffs and Chapter 99 codes, quota bulletins, and AD/CVD and forced-labor instructions, is collected within half an hour of release under CBP & Import Compliance. Pure system maintenance and support-call notices are left out.

The same day, the selection threshold for media sources was lowered from 76 to 65 points; official first-party sources stay at 60. Items scored in the past three weeks were re-judged under the new thresholds.

Opinions of the U.S. Court of International Trade are published only as PDFs and could not be read before; PDF text is now extracted directly, so slip opinions and other PDF-only official documents are collected like any other item.

Solar & Clean Energy now covers recycling fees and EPR

Besides tariffs and trade remedies, Solar & Clean Energy now carries the product fees and registration duties that solar modules, energy storage and batteries face in the United States and Canada: federal, state and provincial extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs, recycling and environmental handling fees, and supplier registration and reporting requirements. A new topic page, EPR & Recycling Fees, collects them.

New source: What's New from the Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA), covering Alberta's environmental fee on solar panels and supplier registration in force since October 1, 2026.

    The site is live

North America Trade Compliance Brief is live. It watches the official channels for U.S. and Canadian tariffs, customs, trade remedies, export controls and sanctions, selects what matters automatically, puts the proposal, final notice, implementing guidance and later developments of one measure together, and publishes a daily brief every morning.

On the U.S. side it covers the Federal Register, CBP, USTR, Commerce, BIS, OFAC, the USITC and the CIT; on the Canadian side, CBSA, Finance Canada, the CITT and Global Affairs Canada.
