Trump proclamation adjusts Section 338 50% tariffs on Canada imports, effective October 30

A proclamation President Donald Trump signed Friday changes the list of Canada goods covered by the 50% Section 338 tariffs, effective October 30: plywood, certain industrial machinery, and select packaging and paper materials come off the list, while cocoa powder, carpets and air conditioners are added. Trump invoked Section 338 of the Trade Act of 1930 in August after negotiations with Canada broke down, and the proclamation says senior executive branch officials advised that the change would still offset the alleged discrimination while serving the public interest.
